Break Through This, Again...
Posted by Budgie at 03:20 PM

The most requested song on The Pipe...

Track : THE DOORS - "BOSSA ROCKER"

Apparently there are people who still haven't heard this great remix of The Doors "Break On Through".

So in response to the handful of emails I've had about this track in my mailbox over the past couple of months, as promised, I've decided to dig it out yet again...

The original post I made about the track can be read here.

Track : THE DOORS - "RIDERS ON THE STORM (SPACEBATS REMIX)"

And as a bonus, I've dug out this other great Doors remix.

This reminds me of being in Ibiza a few years ago, sitting in a hammock, nursing a beer and watching the sunset. The atmosphere was nearly ruined by the presence of some black clouds appearing on the horizon, but the DJ who was doing the sunset shift was quick to adapt his tunes...

For about 2 minutes he played loads of rainforest noises and sound effects of thunderstorms, then as the sun disappeared into the clouds, with only giant shards of light poking out of the gaps in the darkness, he dropped this...

Enjoy.

In White Rooms
Posted by Budgie at 05:37 PM

and on dancefloors...

Just a couple of things I've been listening to a lot over the past couple of weeks...

Track : BOOKA SHADE - "IN WHITE ROOMS"

This track has been building up quite a bit of a reputation of late with it's numerous appearances on blogs. Well, I'm not one to let a bandwagon go by...

It's a stunningly simple Euro house track that clocks in at around five and a half minutes, with most of that being the build up to the ever so brief peak that kicks in around about the four minute mark. A simple bassline forms the basis of the track, bending and twisting with only the odd snatch of chopped up and echoed vocals to keep it company

As I said, it's simple. But very effective.

One to keep the House heads happy and it'll even get those Trance fans nodding too...

Track : KATE BUSH - "KING OF THE MOUNTAIN (RADIO SLAVE MIX)"

And keeping things simple...

Prolific remix team, Radio Slave, house up the recent Kate Bush single only using the first minute or so of the track. They keep the atmospherics, the first verse and a snippet of the chorus and they let the track slowly evolve over the top of a 4/4 beat and a simple and repetative riff.

For me, I just love the way the track gets chopped and dropped around about the middle. Great late night, simple, deep house stuff.

Enjoy.
