"If Music be the food of love, then praise The Pipe for supplying the scones." - Budgie

Sie Trance
Posted by Budgie at 04:04 PM

See what I did there? Clever huh? Actually, it's a bit of an in joke, but you'll understand it soon enough.

Well, this overdue edition of The Pipe was shaping up to be as dull as Oasis were last night at Glastonbury, but I think I may have managed to unearth a few surprises for you...

But not as surprising as Liam Gallagher (World Staring Champion 1998) and his new voice.

So what can you expect? Well as the title suggests, come inside and hold your arms aloft as Sie drops a killer new tune.

Just wipe your feet first, please.

Now can I go an edition without linking to a new Fake ID track? Lets try...

Sie Vs Electro

Round Two in an occasional Pipe / House Of Cuss Series.

After their excellent work a couple of months back on the remixes of Omar's "There's Nothing Like This" (suggested to them by regular forum poster and hater of newbies, Jimmy The Flid - See The Pipe #4), It seems that Sie and Electro are willing to let us hear the fruits of their labour again. Prompted by Sie, who wanted to use The Pipe for unleashing his new production, I then approached Electro to see if he wanted to create a new track for inclusion too and thankfully he said yes. And then he gave me 2 tunes, ripped from a cassette, he made in 1996...

First up is Sie's new track "'Til Sunrise". Sie is noted for his love of Trance and here he displays not only his love for it, but his talent for creating thumping tracks from scratch. I'm not the biggest fan of this genre of music, but in small doses I can handle it.

Saying that...

Sie's track has been played to death in my house ever since he sent me the link. But how can i describe it without using Trance cliches? I can't. Thumping beat, euphoric synth lines, killer break down and sheer grin inducing power for when it kicks back in.

Electro, goes for a bouncy house track with a bubbling 303 acid bassline, a Rockers Revenge sample and some cheeky filtered disco loops. So was Electro ahead of his time by making filtered disco tracks way back before those Parisian DJ's made it the done thing to do? Goodness knows, but his track, entitled "Not Wrong" (you'll "get" the title when you hear it) is well worth the download. The original version is available to download too. Personally, I prefer the Acid Mix.

Sie - 'Til Sunrise (original mix)
Electroretro - Not Wrong (acid mix)
Electroretro - Not Wrong (original)

DJ Dubz - Dub Be Good To Me Vs Melt

After playing the above tunes, you may find you need to relax and want to listen to something a bit quieter. DJ Dubz comes up trumps (that's one vowel away from me getting sued...) again with this soothing ambient mash of Beats International's "Dub Be Good To Me" and Leftfield's "Melt". DJ Dubz was the guy behind the mix of Britney Spears "Toxic" and The B-52's "Love Shack" that was featured a while back on The Pipe. Check his site out as he has plenty of tracks available to download.

DJ Zebra - C'mon Fuck Me
DJ Zebra - Rock And Roll Train

Right, that's enough quiet time, lets kick it back off again. And where better than getting your lugs around DJ Zebra's noisy mash of The Von Bondies "C'mon C'mon" with some Simian and Princess Superstar?

This Rocks.

Play Loud.

Another track by the talented french man. "Rock And Roll Train" takes some Gary Glitter and Goldfrapp and then creates the ultimate Electro Glam Rock stomper. I can't listen to this without thinking of the Alison Goldfrapp footage from Glastonbury. Knee length boots, her bum cheeks hanging out of her knickers and topped off with a horses tail sticking out of her arse. Bizarre and erotic. Am I becoming a pervert?

Rachel Stevens - "Some Girls"

I was in two minds whether to link to this track as I reckoned I would get flamed for it, but fuck it, a great pop song is a great pop song and this is a, yes you guessed it, great pop song. I've put it up as it's very similar in style to DJ Zebra's "Rock And Roll Train" and it's also very similar to Lionel Vinyl's bootleg from last year, "Strict Rachel". Lionel, last year, took Rachel's debut track "Sweet Dreams (My LA Ex)" and gave it the electro glam make over by using Goldfrapp's "Strict Machine". Rachel's new track "Some Girls" sounds uncannily like it. It's a Richard X production and it's very good. Can't wait to see the video...

(no sign of a Fake ID track yet. Looking good... Shit. Managed to mention Lionel Vinyl above though... Hope no one notices...)

Del Gazeebo - "Ch-Checking Out The Dock Of The Bay"

Oh man! The new Beastie's song suddenly bursts into Peggy Lee singing "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay"! You'll never be able to hear "Ch-Check It Out" again without bursting into the old soul classic. The sound quality is not great (96k rip) but it's still worth a download. Rumour has it that it may soon be appearing on vinyl...

Del Gazeebo seems to have friends on B3TA, check the link below out for a Tiger singing Ol' Dirty Bastard's "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" over The Cure's "Close To Me"...

Roppenzo - "Close To A Bug"

And talking of The Cure's "Close To Me"... Wanna hear it with Destiny's Child singing "Bug A Boo" over the top? Then right click below as it's brilliant. Oh, and you Simpsons fans may want to check out Roppenzo's site as you may enjoy hearing "Do The Bartman" over Pharrell and Snoop's summer hit from last year, "Beautiful".... Just click on "Tracks" to find it on his site.

I GIVE UP, I JUST CAN'T DO IT. I CAN'T GO A WHOLE EDITION Of THE PIPE WITHOUT A FAKE ID TUNE. I JUST CAN'T. HIS REMIXES ARE JUST TOO GOOD.

Fake ID Vs Def Leppard - "Party Animal"

Yes, you read correctly. Def fucking Leppard. I think they must have got Fake ID in to add the drums as that one armed drummer wasn't up to the job or away strangling his wife or something. It's a remix of their 1987 track "Animal".

I love Fake ID. You should too.

Well, another one done. Feel free to discuss the selections, wind me up for liking Rachel Stevens or fancying Alison Goldfrapp with that horses tail hanging out her arse in the Forum.

Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
Posted by Budgie at 09:57 PM

WELL DO YOU?

Never mind.

This is just a Mini Pipe this week as I'm just back from my hols and I'm trying to catch up with 2 weeks worth of bootlegs and the like.

Not much dialogue (hoorah) just 100% Gluton Free Goodness and tunes from the usual suspects...

Ibiza was good and nice and quiet. The main season was just starting, so the big clubs and tunes haven't kicked in yet. But if that "Lola's Theme" by The Shapeshifters isn't gonna be the biggest thing since sliced bread this summer then I'll eat my own cock.

With cheese.

Not heard "Lola's Theme" yet?

Well get a load of this...

Lionel Vinyl - "Dangerously Hard Lola"

This was the highlight (for me) from Lionel's "Half Arsed Botch Job" mix from a couple of months or so back.

Taking said Shapeshifters track and planting Busta Rhymes "Dangerous" acapella over the top and a few choice snippets from Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", this is killer dancefloor fodder.

JC Chasez - "All Day Long (Fake ID's Extra Sexy Mix)"

Stop rolling your eyes...

YES it's another Pipe edition with another Fake ID track.

YES it is still Lionel Vinyl's alter ego.

YES I do love his work and the sooner you all get hip to this then I'll stop harping on about him.

YES it's that N*SYNC fella.

YES THIS IS FUCKING GENIUS.

Turn up loud and wait for the chorus...

DJ Earworm - "The Metro Dip"

I'm a massive fan of that Christina Milian track that is out just now, "Dip It Low". I didn't like the song itself at first, it was more about that chinese string plucking backing track that was doing it for me, but the more I listened to it the more the whole thing just worked.

I have be waiting for someone to do a bootleg of this and this is the only one I have found so far.

DJ Earworm blends Berlin's 1982 New Wave anthem "The Metro" in and out of the Milian tune.

It may take a couple of listens, but I, for one, like this a lot.

DJ Tripp - "In The Air 2 Night (Tripp's Underwater Mix)"

Back To Ibiza.

Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" was a bit of a Balearic anthem in its day.

Honest.

Stop laughing.

Your hair would curl if I told you what passed as a big Ibiza party tune in the not so distant past.

*cough* Chris Rhea *cough*

DJ Tripp takes Collins' dark pop song and gives it a nice moody house rework.

You may not like the source material, but give it a shot as this remix is done very well indeed.

Go on, trust yer Uncle Budgie.

Queen - "New York At Last (Smash Remix)"

Ah, my holiday tune.

Now, I'm not a fan of Queen. It's my dads fault. He used to play their old records all the time when I was a kid. So I've heard enough Queen records to last a lifetime. Then this MP3 appeared...

There was quite a buzz about this when it surfaced on the net. It sat on my PC for a quite a while and it's only recently, since playing it over and over on MD on holiday, that I appreciate it's greatness.

Smash takes a Freddie Mercury demo of a track called "New York", builds a new track from scratch and sprinkles some Queen guitar samples over it and the whole thing sounds very professional indeed.

It will be a crying shame if this doesnt get picked up for a proper release. Word has it that Brian May and Roger Taylor love it.

Oh, and if you go to Smash's site, and you should, be sure to check out Smash's dark mash up of Massive Attack's "Angel" with Kylie's "Slow"...

Loo & Placido - "Kids Rock"

Hmm, for someone who doesn't like Queen...

I mentioned on the forum a few weeks ago that you should check out Loo & Placido's website as they had finally manged to get one up and running and put up all their bootlegs. They are definately one of the best bootleggers about, so do yourself a wee favour and wrap your lugs around their back catalogue.

Anyway, for a quick fix, check this out.

Using the reggae rhythm that Althea & Donna used for the classic "Uptown Top Ranking" and Marcia Aitken used on "I'm Still In Love With You", they have a bunch of kids singing Queen's "We Will Rock You", alongside Dame Freddie, over the top. Sounds like it won't work doesn't it?

Then download it...

Well, this has turned out to be a bigger Pipe than I had intended. I hope you enjoy the selection of tunes.

Feel free to have a nice wee blether about them in the Forum

Budgie.
