Merry Christmix

Have you all been good boys and girls this year?
If so, then DJ Santa will have delivered some musical treats, an orange and a 20p for you inside this edition of The Pipe.
If you've not been good then DJ Santa advises you to check the file names before downloading as you may end up with some Shakin' Stevens.
Ok, last Pipe of the year (booo!) but lets start off with my favourite 5 boots of the year (hooray!).
(1) Go Home Productions - "Wrapped Detective"
Go Home Productions is one of the best bootleggers out there and here he shows just why. Taking music by Elvis Costello, Sting, Lionel Ritchie, Peggy Lee and Bob Marley and making 4 and a bit minutes of total bliss. It just shouldn't work but it does. A CLASSIC.

(2) DJ Earworm - "The Night Of Kittin's Messy Dream"
This tune featured in The Pipe a while back and since then its probably been the most played bootleg by me all year. Earworm masterly weaves PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke's "This Mess We're In" duet over the top of The Human League's "The Things That Dreams Are Made Of", Corey Hart's "Sunglasses At Night" and Goldenboy feat Miss Kittin's "Rippin Kittin".

(3) Party Ben - "Boulevard Of Broken Songs"
Again, another one that featured in The Pipe not that long ago. Apparently this mix of Green Day's latest song with Oasis' "Wonderwall" and Travis' "Writing To Reach You" has been getting quite a bit of airplay on Radio 1. So a pat on the back to Party Ben for knocking up such a good boot that even radio stations are taking notice.

(4) Allen Dean - "Rapture Riders"
Allen Dean is one of Go Home Productions aliases. This time he expertly blends Blondie's classic "Rapture" with The Doors "Riders On The Storm". Again, GHP shows that different styles of music that you wouldn't normally think would fit together actually do. Oh, and I'm a sucker for the effects on this. A great production.
You should definately check out GHP's site as there are plenty of gems on there and I highly recommend signing up for his Newsletter as you'll get the heads up on new mixes and also some that are only available to the subscribers.

(5) Franz Ferdinand - "Take Me Out (Fake ID's Taken It Too Far Mix)"
I had to put a Fake ID mix in this list somewhere. So I plumped for one that I love and one that I haven't featured in The Pipe before. His rework of the huge Franz Ferdinand track is one of the better remixes of this available - the ones that the record company commissioned were pretty weak, which was a shame as you'd think that people like Daft Punk and Morgan Geist would have turned out some good versions... Fake ID loses the majority of the vocals, keeps the guitars and then adds quite a bit of feedback and his usual electro bassline business. Another goodie from his ever expanding body of work.

Cry.On.My.Console "YAear! Mix!"
This is off the scale. Quite possibly the maddest thing that I have linked to on The Pipe.
C.O.M.C has turned in a 6 minute minimix of some of the big tunes of the year (Britney, Mylo, Gwen Stefani etc) and I just can't stop playing it.
Don't let the first 10 seconds fool you with those "Toxic" strings as after that the mix just blows up into a hardcore, headfucking, grin inducing glitchfest that is giving my Wife and my cat THE FEAR.
PLAY LOUD.
(special mention goes to the last minute and a half of this mix as the Eric Prydz bit is unbelievable)

P77-018 Mix
PopSeventySeven is a site I have only came across in the past couple of weeks. It is an MP3 blog that seems to do a nice side line in putting out some very good eclectic compilation mixes.
This is their latest mix (#18) and clocking in at just under 80 minutes long it features stuff by people like PJ Harvey, Blondie, Snoop Dogg, The Futureheads, Dogs Die In Hot Cars and a great remix of N*E*R*D. The beauty I have found in these mixes is their ability to open my ears to bands I have never heard of and this one is no different as I am loving the stuff in this mix by people like The New Pornographers, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists and Pixeltan.
You can find the tracklisting to this mix on their site, which I recommend you bookmark and keep your eyes and ears open for future mixes.

Bobby Corridor - "Melancholy Flowers"
I put a mix of Bobby Corridor's up in the Forum a month or so back (see HERE as the mix is still online), those that downloaded it were treated to a classic old skool hip hop mix by the hands of an expert.
My eyes lit up a couple of days ago when I found his latest mix...
What took me by surprise most of all was the tracklisting that made me wonder how he was going to pull it off. I should have had no fears. He turns in another stunning hour long Solid Steel-esque mix that is so far removed from his last one.
If Christmas gets too much for you, hide in a corner with this on your headphones...
This is quite possibly one of the most adventurous and eclectic downtempo mixes I have ever heard. I mean, who'd have ever thought that Julee Cruise, DJ Shadow, The Blue Nile, Charles Bukowski and Smog would all flow together? And that's just a small section in the mix. During the hour people like Neil Young, Nirvana, Nina Simone and Johnny Cash all make an appearance over the top of some quality beats.
It that's whetted your appetite, then check out the tracklisting below and then go download it.
