"If Music be the food of love, then praise The Pipe for supplying the scones." - Budgie

Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
Posted by Budgie at June 2, 2004 09:57 PM

WELL DO YOU?

Never mind.

This is just a Mini Pipe this week as I'm just back from my hols and I'm trying to catch up with 2 weeks worth of bootlegs and the like.

Not much dialogue (hoorah) just 100% Gluton Free Goodness and tunes from the usual suspects...

Ibiza was good and nice and quiet. The main season was just starting, so the big clubs and tunes haven't kicked in yet. But if that "Lola's Theme" by The Shapeshifters isn't gonna be the biggest thing since sliced bread this summer then I'll eat my own cock.

With cheese.

Not heard "Lola's Theme" yet?

Well get a load of this...

Lionel Vinyl - "Dangerously Hard Lola"

This was the highlight (for me) from Lionel's "Half Arsed Botch Job" mix from a couple of months or so back.

Taking said Shapeshifters track and planting Busta Rhymes "Dangerous" acapella over the top and a few choice snippets from Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", this is killer dancefloor fodder.

JC Chasez - "All Day Long (Fake ID's Extra Sexy Mix)"

Stop rolling your eyes...

YES it's another Pipe edition with another Fake ID track.

YES it is still Lionel Vinyl's alter ego.

YES I do love his work and the sooner you all get hip to this then I'll stop harping on about him.

YES it's that N*SYNC fella.

YES THIS IS FUCKING GENIUS.

Turn up loud and wait for the chorus...

DJ Earworm - "The Metro Dip"

I'm a massive fan of that Christina Milian track that is out just now, "Dip It Low". I didn't like the song itself at first, it was more about that chinese string plucking backing track that was doing it for me, but the more I listened to it the more the whole thing just worked.

I have be waiting for someone to do a bootleg of this and this is the only one I have found so far.

DJ Earworm blends Berlin's 1982 New Wave anthem "The Metro" in and out of the Milian tune.

It may take a couple of listens, but I, for one, like this a lot.

DJ Tripp - "In The Air 2 Night (Tripp's Underwater Mix)"

Back To Ibiza.

Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" was a bit of a Balearic anthem in its day.

Honest.

Stop laughing.

Your hair would curl if I told you what passed as a big Ibiza party tune in the not so distant past.

*cough* Chris Rhea *cough*

DJ Tripp takes Collins' dark pop song and gives it a nice moody house rework.

You may not like the source material, but give it a shot as this remix is done very well indeed.

Go on, trust yer Uncle Budgie.

Queen - "New York At Last (Smash Remix)"

Ah, my holiday tune.

Now, I'm not a fan of Queen. It's my dads fault. He used to play their old records all the time when I was a kid. So I've heard enough Queen records to last a lifetime. Then this MP3 appeared...

There was quite a buzz about this when it surfaced on the net. It sat on my PC for a quite a while and it's only recently, since playing it over and over on MD on holiday, that I appreciate it's greatness.

Smash takes a Freddie Mercury demo of a track called "New York", builds a new track from scratch and sprinkles some Queen guitar samples over it and the whole thing sounds very professional indeed.

It will be a crying shame if this doesnt get picked up for a proper release. Word has it that Brian May and Roger Taylor love it.

Oh, and if you go to Smash's site, and you should, be sure to check out Smash's dark mash up of Massive Attack's "Angel" with Kylie's "Slow"...

Loo & Placido - "Kids Rock"

Hmm, for someone who doesn't like Queen...

I mentioned on the forum a few weeks ago that you should check out Loo & Placido's website as they had finally manged to get one up and running and put up all their bootlegs. They are definately one of the best bootleggers about, so do yourself a wee favour and wrap your lugs around their back catalogue.

Anyway, for a quick fix, check this out.

Using the reggae rhythm that Althea & Donna used for the classic "Uptown Top Ranking" and Marcia Aitken used on "I'm Still In Love With You", they have a bunch of kids singing Queen's "We Will Rock You", alongside Dame Freddie, over the top. Sounds like it won't work doesn't it?

Then download it...

Well, this has turned out to be a bigger Pipe than I had intended. I hope you enjoy the selection of tunes.

Feel free to have a nice wee blether about them in the Forum

Budgie.
