Day 23: Non-celeb Chantelle wins
Posted by Simon at
08:58 AM
Oh the British public are so funny, they must think they're really ironic voting for a non-celeb to win the 'celebrity' Big Brother... Yes, that's right, Chantelle won CBB... Madness.
She pipped quizshow star Michael "top middle or bottom what's a hotspot not" Barrymore to the title of Celebrity Big Brother 2006 winner, who went out to a massive wall of cheers from the crowd who were chanting "michael, michael michael!".
Barrymore said that he wasn't frustrated to be out of the house now rather than being the winner, saying "I'd already won before I got to this evening" - clearly pleased with his experience in the Big Brother house, and considering that to be more of a "win" than actually finishing in first place.
Highlights of Michael's time in the house concentrated on his entertaining of the other housemates, including when he was pretending to be Maggot, impersonating a German, dancing around in a leotard, and generally clowning around like only Barrymore could do.
His personality clash with Jodie and Dennis were bought up by Davina in the interview - Jodie sat there looking bitter and pissed off whilst he spoke about their disagreement, clearly not happy to have anything to do with him and not prepared to accept any apology if there was going to be one. She's made up her mind and that's that.
Whilst Michael had been receiving his interview on the stage outside, Chantelle had been pacing around the lounge shouting "o-mi-god!!!" and when Davina spoke to her she asked "'avv you checked? are you shuurre?" - clearly not beliving what she'd achieved.
Once Chantelle had made her way out of the house a fireworks display burst in to action, before being wisked to the main stage for her interview, where Davina revealled some suprise news that as she'd gone in a non-celeb and ended up winning, she'd receive a £25,000 prize - in as a nobody, out as a celeb with £25,000... can't be bad.
As with Michael the crowds seemed happy with Chantelle's win, and didn't boo her at all, although it seemed as though Chantelle really couldn't take the news all in, and must have been sitting there wondering if it was all just a big dream.
So it's all over for another year, but thankfully it's not all over for "2006" because the "normal" Big Brother is back again this summer... and The Eye will get back to you!

Day 23: It's nearly all over...
Posted by Simon at
09:20 PM
Well, it's the very last day of Celebrity Big Brother 2006, and they're now down to the last three after Traci (6th place), Pete (5th place) Preston (4th place) and Maggot (3rd place) were evicted from the house.
Traci seemed fairly dippy as she has been during her time in the house and didn't really seem to say much during her interview - "awesssoome!" and all that.
Pete on the other hand got an interview which had huge similarities to Makosi's last year, with the crowd shouting "off off off off!" and booing throughout the interview.
Preston however got a much more warming cheer - infact there wasn't a boo to be heard, which must be the very first from any of the housemates this series, with everyone else getting at least a few boo's from the public outside the Big Brother house.
Maggot was told he'd finished in third place, although had a whole half-hour to wait until Davina returned to the house to do the final three evictions.
So it's down to two - Michael and former-non-celeb Chantelle. It'd seem the crowds want Michael to win based on the number of banners being held up, although the novelty aspect of the non-celeb could well swing it in Chantelle's favour.

Day 13: Up for eviction...
Posted by Simon at
08:00 AM
It's day 13, which will be unlucky for some as it brings with it the second round of nomination results...
The housemates facing eviction this week, are:
Dennis, Faria, Pete.
Dennis nodded when his name was called out, Faria looked a bit shocked, and Pete seemed to expect the news of him being up for eviction, probably after he was last week.
Pete said "I'm second time around, I'm in the lead" as he got up and walked back out to the kitchen.
Seems Dennis or Faria are most likely to go, The Eye thinks Dennis should, although what does Faria bring to the show? Faria out.
Who do you want out? Have your say in the forum!
How they nominated...
Chantelle nominated Dennis and Michael
Dennis nominated Chantelle and Rula
Faria nominated Pete and Dennis
George nominated Traci and Faria
Maggot nominated Faria and Pete
Michael nominated Faria and George
Pete nominated Rula and Chantelle
Preston nominated Traci and Dennis
Traci nominated George and Michael
Rula was told that Faria and Dennis had received the most votes, and because she was wearing the Pants of Power, had to pick a third person - she nominated Pete.

Day 10: The Box task is back!
Posted by Simon at
10:20 AM
Remember the box task from the last Big Brother? Well that's exactly what the celebrity housemates have woken up to this morning!
The housemates have been let out to walk around the house, despite Big Brother still not announcing the task yet, but it'd seem it'll work pretty much the same as before, with the housemate who lasts the longest (George and Maggot would seem favourites based on comments from them so far), but with a potential massive twist...
...because Jimmy Saville is due to arrive in the house sometime this afternoon - presumably after they've entered their boxes, and either whilst some are still in their box (to tempt them out) or as a final result for the last housemate. Possibly even one housemate will get to meet Jim'll Fix It and the others won't, or maybe they'll all get the chance to meet him, howz' about that then!
It's proven a bit of a farce though, because it was pretty obvious Pete wouldn't want to be in the box for more than a few minutes, and both he and Preston decided to leave at the same time - with the idea being they all left their boxes so as Rula could win.
They were both given coffee and hot croissants as a treat from Big Brother, at which point Pete went and sat on Dennis' box, trying to get him out of it, whilst winding others up and trying to organise the quick ending of the task because Pete claimed he "couldn't see the point in it".
George made his plans clear, telling them that if they were going to sit it out - to beat the machine - he'd be there all night and had no intention of leaving, whilst Rula said she'd give him a run for his month.
Eventually Faria seemed to give up to Pete's constant going-on and on about ending the task, and had a bit of a shouting match with him, followed moments later by Maggot who threw the towl in.
At which point discussion turned back to ending the task early, with almost everyone saying they want Rula to get the special treat, but none of them who were still in their boxes actually wanting to leave.
But moments later they did all get out of their boxes, making the whole task a total anti-climax compared with the non-celeb Big Brother last year where the task went on for hours and proved hugely more entertaining.
Hopefully Jimmy Saville's arrival later won't fall equally flat.

Day 9: Jodie gets evicted
Posted by Simon at
09:40 PM
Jodie has been the first housemate to be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house, after receiving move votes from the public than George or Pete who were up against her.
She had been the bookies favourite to get the boot ever since the nomination result was announced earlier this week, after being a miserably moody cow earlier in the series.
Jodie was pretty much boo'ed by all of the crowd, who clearly wern't too impressed with what she'd done in the house during her nine days, and hadn't been happy with her misery-guts performances on all too many of the days. Something which she later described to Davina as being "hideous".
She also spent most of her time in the interview with tears in her eyes, going on about the same old things that she kept bringing up whilst in the house - everyone hates her, picking on her, this that the other. Get over it, it's only a gameshow!
Birthday Bingham
Traci had her birthday today, and once Jodie had finally been given the boot and the crowds outside of the house had made their way home, the housemates were let out of the lounge area, and told to collect their fancy dress costumes from the store room, and to immediately get dressed ready for Traci's birthday party.
However there was a bit of a sting in the tail for Traci, being Friday 13th...
...she was called to the diary room whilst the other housemates waited in the lounge area, and was told to go to the bedroom - at which point she got locked in, and dizzy yank that she is, read out a message which was in a gift box, but completely seemed to miss the point of what she'd just read out
"ohhhh ooohkaaay, I see, that's soooo funnnneeeehhy, huuuuhh, soooo funny..."
She'd been told in the laminate that she wouldn't be able to join the party until midnight, due to it being Friday 13th, and Big Brother's message ended by telling her "life's a beach" - but it'd seem the humour in that might not have fully been understood by the Baywatch lass, who seems to have the IQ of a goldfish with an asbo, in essex, after a night on the town.

Day 6: Three nominated for eviction!
Posted by Simon at
08:06 AM
The housemates nominated for the first eviction, are: George and Jodie and Pete.
Housemates were woken at 7am, with the news being revealled to them at 8am (8:15am "live" on BBLB due to the 15 minute delay) and meant that Michael and Pete only had just over an hours sleep due to staying up really late.
Jodie pretty quickly burst in to tears, and sobbed in the arms of Rula who was sitting beside her. George didn't seem to fussed by the news and Pete seemed pleased it was all over so he could go back to bed.
Whilst Dennis seemed a bit purplexed by the announcement, a small group of them sat around in the living room discussing the news, with Jodie clearly not happy, whilst trying to get seek the attention of the few who were still listening.
Who nominated who?
Chantelle nominated Rula and George
Dennis nominated Preston and Jodie
Faria nominated Jodie and Pete
George nominated Jodie and Pete
Jodie nominated Pete and George
Maggot nominated Pete and Jodie
Michael nominated Dennis and Jodie
Pete nominated Jodie and George
Preston nominated George and Faria
Rula nominated Dennis and Jodie
Traci nominated Jodie and Preston

Day 4: Chantelle stays!
Posted by Simon at
09:59 PM
Chantelle has passed her secret task, by convincing the other housemates that she actually is famous - or at least more famous than Preston and Maggot.
The end of her task came during the live show on Channel 4 this evening, when all 11 housemates had to stand on podiums outside in the garden - in the pouring rain - and rank themselves from 1 down to 11.
If she'd have stood on the "11" podium she'd have been booted out of the house, no crowd, nothing. Just straight back home, a non-celeb just like when she entered.
Fortunately though for her both Maggot and Preston stood in the 10 and 11 spots, whilst Michael and Dennis took 1st and 2nd place, and the rest all filled in the gaps in between.
To reward Chantelle and the rest of the housemates for the passing of the task a Celebrity party was thrown by Big Brother, with the news of what had happened being relayed to the real Celebs on the plasma screen in the living room.

Day 1: Bunch o' nuttas!
Posted by Simon at
05:44 PM
Well, the fourth series of Celebrity Big Brother has started, and what an interesting time it could well turn up to be - once they get rid of some celebs who seem lacking in celeb status...!
The Eye says it every year, but what an "interesting selection" Channel 4 have made. Certainly it's very different to the bunch that showed up in CBB1 and 2, but we all like watching freak shows and Channel 4 know it, so that's why we've got the 10+1 for 2006.
10+1?
Yep, 10 celebs and 1 non-celeb (although after being on BB "celeb status" is something that almost always follows, so arguably there's 11 celebs in there now).
As Richard O'Brien used to say at the start of Crystal Maze "let's meet them shall we?"
First up is Chantelle, a 22 year old "model promotions girl" from essex. She's the non-celeb, and has to pretend that she's a singer from a group called Kandyfloss ("with a K"), and that the hit song was "I want it right now". If the celebs don't rumble her, she gets to stay in the house, otherwise she's out on Sunday.
In the Housemate number 2 slot is Michael Barrymore, he entered the house to massive cheering from the crowd, and took ages to walk past everyone who was seemingly very happy to see him again since he vanished from British TV screens a couple of years ago.
Third housemate is 80's singer Pete Burns. He got boo's from the crowd to start with although it did seem to change in to cheers before too long. Looks like he could give last years Jackie a run for her money in the cosmetic surgery stakes...
Next up is American actress from Baywatch Traci Bingham, followed by Goldie Lookin Chain's Maggot, 60's actress Rula Lenska, and then model Jodie Marsh.
The final four included Basketball legend Dennis Rodman, who commented "oh this gotta be joking..." as he entered the house and found Traci Bingham there. FA (that's Faria Alam, not Football Assosciation) followed him entering a couple of minutes later, and got lots of boo's from the crowd, although they were cheers instead of boo's when Preston from the Ordinary Boys turned up and entered the house.
Finally a bit of a shock for the media it'd seem, as current MP George Galloway was announced to be the 10th celeb to be taking part in the show. Again there was massive booing from crowd, and as he entered the house he shouted "stop the war!".
Early doors
Initially the group seemed to split in to males and females, although before long they all grouped back togther and mingled a bit, up until the point that they started to drift off to bed - Faria, Rula, etc... Late night stop-up's they most certainly don't seem to be.
Well, they wouldn't have been, if only the snoring hadn't of kept them awake.
It'd seem Michael Barrymore has a bit of a loud snoring problem, which kept the rather close pair of Dennis and non-celeb Chantelle giggling away as they chatted with each other from their neighbouring beds.
Finally Barrymore seemed to wake from his slumber and apologised for the snoring and went out in the kitchen, before heading in to the living room, where he fiddled with the cactus plant trying to break off one of the spikes, which it'd seem he was hoping to use as a pen... sneaky.
The Eye will be watching, and will report back for Day 2. In the meantime, have your say about the Celebs, on the forum.

They only go on it to become 'famous'...
Posted by Simon at
10:26 PM
They only go on it to become 'famous'... and that goes for the Celebrity version of Big Brother too, where a bunch of former celebs (and maybe a few current ones) will live together for a couple of weeks trying to not go round the twist like John McCrirrick did last year.
Yep, Celebrity Big Brother is back again, and it all kicks off at 9pm on Thursday 5th of January, with several celebs hopefully keeping us entertained day and night for however many days the series runs for, but after last year's bloody great Celebrity Big Brother, it'll face a tough job trying to be as good, yet alone beat it.
He's in, she's not, he might be, she definitely is...
The tabloids have been awash with rumours of who might be in, who definitely is in because some anon source told them that they were, etc etc...
Most likely seems to be former gameshow host Michael Barrymore, who quite clearly won't be getting The Sun's support even if he made it to the final...
They're also saying that American host Joan Rivers is being asked to go on the show by Channel 4, although that seems to have been ripped to shreads by some of the Big Brother forums where people have checked her website and seen she's got apperances booked. Not that it means she'll turn up to them, mind.
It seems quite a few yanks could infiltrate our Celeb BB, with not only Joan tipped as a possible, but also Macaulay Culkin, Denis Rodman and Anna Nicole Smith are all being mentioned in the same rumours/reports.
Further names being throw around include Johnny Vegas, Jodie Marsh, Shane McGowan, Nikki Sanderson, Scott Wright, Jocelyn Gesien, Gillian McKeith, Pete Burns, Dave Berry, and Boy George.
Yes, quite a line-up, if the tip-off's are true.
What do you think of the potential housemates? Post your thoughts in the Celebrity Big Brother topic on the forum!
Indoor pool, sauna hut, polka-dot beds...
There have also been a set of photos released to the media giving a preview of things to come, with The Sun and BBC News (who possibly didn't watch BB6 as they'd have known about the Dogs in the garden - admittedly there was only one then, and it wasn't painted white) being two that have already splashed the photos online.
The outdoor hut (which seems to be where the "loft" was in BB6) is said to only work some of the time, and could possibly face other prank-style tomfoolery from the Big Brother crew to annoy the housemates, although quite what this will be is anyone's guess. Maybe the area above their heads will contain gunge and will dump out over them like some sort of wacky Noel's House Party gungetank trick.
Other parts of the house haven't been shown in full yet, although usually a lot of it stays pretty much the same as the non-celeb series from the summer before, with only minor changes in furnishings and fixtures. It'll be interesting to see what they've done with the room behind the Diary Room though where the secret garden (Eugene, Kinga and Orlaith), room 101 (Maxwell) and interrogation room (Derek) were located.
Hopefully they'll also bring back the "live challenges" for the Celebrity version of the show, after they were pretty much dropped from the last series - annoying when you consider they often provided the highlight of the week and usually lead to a party or reward of some sort rather than just seeing housemates sitting around doing nothing. And who can forget John McCrirrick's complete and utter fit at the controls of an electric wheelchair disguised as a ghost train!?
Something worth watching on 4 in the morning!
It's been ages since there was something worth watching during Breakfast time on Channel 4, and the ending of The Big Breakfast was a sad day for many, but at 8:05am (just after the repeat of the launch show which starts at 6:45am) on Friday 6th of January you'll be able to watch Dermot's Big Brother Little Brother - oh yes, it's getting a breafast slot, instead of the evening or late night ones that they've given it before.
All the usual stuff that you'd expect from BBLB will no doubt make it in to this series, and will probably see them waking up during the show if Channel 4 have tied it in with that - it's often been said that there's little going on for "breakfast" viewers of Big Brother because they all go to bed late and wake up even later, but the trouble is that if they go to bed early because they're being woken up early, then there's nothing to show overnight. Hmm.
Which is a good time to mention that each night at 9pm you'll be able to watch the highlights from the day before, and overnight each night from around midnight/1am will be the "live" coverage from the house, with presumably the same sort of thing on E4. Freeview viewers apparently won't have an interactive service though for Celeb BB, meaning no 24-hour streaming for them.
The Eye will have full updates, from 9pm on Thursday. Don't miss it.
