Day 66: New housemate to enter!
Posted by Simon at 04:32 PM

A new housemate is to enter the Big Brother house in a special live show tonight, and will join the remaining five of Anthony, Craig, Derek, Eugene and Makosi, after Orlaith walked on Saturday morning.

Clearly Big Brother needed six housemates still in the house so near to the end so as they could go ahead with whatever they've got planned for the remaining weeks, of which there are now less than two.

Housemates were already commenting yesterday how "this week's task has been cancelled" due to Orlaith's departure, which would hint at it having been something needing six housemates and not possible with only five. Maybe once the new housemate joins them it'll be able to get underway.

It'd seem fairly likely that the housemate who enters will be female, simply because Makosi is the only girl left in the house, and the Big Brother website has been making quite a thing of how it's very boy-ish in there at the moment with far too much tostesterone.

One possibly housemate is Kinga, who only made it as far as being a contestant for the week in the secret garden, before being given the boot by Makosi. Her entering the house would mean that she'd instantly get on with Eugene and Makosi (although maybe not seeing as she missed out on a place because of her, and because of the "childish" comment that was given as the reason for why she shouldn't be allowed in) and would also be a familiar face with the viewers, as opposed to someone that is totally unknown.

The housemate who enters possibly stands quite a good chance of being there on the final night seeing as the series is just under two weeks from the end, although they can be nominated for eviction by their fellow housemates, so maybe their stay will be very short.

Find out who enters, and the reaction of the other housemates, tonight at 9pm Live on Channel 4.

Day 65: Orlaith has quit!
Posted by Simon at 11:15 AM

Orlaith has quit Big Brother, after managing to stay in the house last night when the public voted out Kemal, by what has been described as a very tight vote.

The Irish girl had been saying how she was wanting to walk if she wasn't evicted, and true to her word (despite it appearing to be a bluff) she left this morning, with just a five minute warning that she would be called to the diary room and wouldn't be coming back.

She spent those last few moments with some of the housemates in the bedroom, but urged them not to let Derek know that she was leaving because of him...

...despite the fact that it appears to have been the poshly spoken Tory that has got on her tits, so to speak. Last night she was going on and on about how she'd "had too much" of being in the house, and that she only came in because Big Brother had told her that she could (so did all the others, surely?) and that she "shouldn't be here, it should have been me getting evicted tonight". Clearly not realising that more members of the public paid to vote to keep her in rather than Kemal.

She also made another comment which seemed to scream stupidness as if Orlaith thought she was the only one to have experienced it, in a very self centred moment, claiming "THREE WEEK'S I've had to suffer HIM (derek)", as if she'd been down-trod by Derek for a lifetime, and more than the original housemates who have been there since day 1.

The tirade of anger seems to continue spouting from Orlaith, almost as if she was doing it on purpose to twist things about Derek and turn housemates against him, possibly because deep down she might see him as a real candidate for being the winner this year, with her possibly favouring someone else to win.

Orlaith's departure is the first person to walk from this series, and very near to the end of the show which isn't typical of housemates that decide to quit. It also leaves only five housemates which could be a bit of a nightmare for the shows producers as they may have had big plans for a double eviction before the final week or some other eviction shock.

The remaining five housemates are Anthony, Craig, Derek, Eugene and Makosi. It all feels like it's very near the end with such a small group...!

Day 64: Kemal evicted
Posted by Simon at 09:31 PM

The ninth eviction of the series has seen Kemal booted out of the house, after receiving more votes from the public than Orlaith who he was up against.

It's quite a suprise result (although not totally unexpected) due to a lot of Big Brother fans saying how they simply wanted Orlaith out, and she appeared to be getting more boo's from the crowd outside of the house - although not at the point when Davina said the housemates names just before the announcement.

All week Orlaith has been saying that she was going to walk, and apparently she's said she'll go tomorrow (Saturday) if she didn't go tonight, so with Kemal now leaving when Orlaith probably thought she certainly would be, it'll be interesting to see if she sticks to her words and walks - if she does it'll leave just Makosi as the lone female, alongside Anthony, Craig, Derek and Eugene.

Whilst Kemal jumped up to get changed in to his "eviction outfit" after hearing the news, Orlaith sat there with her mouth closed and resting on her clasped hands, looking both slightly bitter and also somewhat dissapointed about not leaving - but possibly also quite smug at the same time.

Day 61: Kemal and Orlaith face eviction
Posted by Simon at 05:33 PM

Nomination results have been announced this afternoon, and there are two housemates who are up to face the public vote - Kemal and Orlaith.

There wasn't much said after the news had been told to the housemates. Kemal queried if he was really up this week (after the false eviction two weeks ago when Vanessa ended up going), and commented on the fact that at least they'd got his name right this time - he'd been called "Camel" last time.

Orlaith on the other hand seemed to just sit there quietly. No emotion, no tears, no real comment at all. Much the same coming from the rest of the housemates who clearly aren't too bothered if she goes, and had already said to her how they feel she'll be going this week.

Day 60: Another new housemate!
Posted by Simon at 11:55 PM

A new housemate arrived in the Big Brother house tonight, but no don't worry it's not yet another contestant - it's a tiny grey kitten, which they appear to have named Simba.

bb6

The arrival came after the housemates had performed a mini-task singing songs about their fellow housemates, and soon saw the bundle of fluff running around the living room area, darting under the chairs near the table, and getting used to the new surroundings.

Orlaith said how it should probably just be left to find it's own way around for the first few hours, and repeated that comment when ever someone picked the kitten up, although strangely seemed to go totally against her own words by picking the kitten up more than anyone else, and at one stage carrying it through to the bedroom to show it another room.

Day 58
Posted by Simon at 10:26 AM

The remaining housemates have been woken by Science this morning - the day after he was evicted from the house.

His voice was booming out over the speaker system, in a collection of soundbytes which had been put together by Big Brother, and were played in a loop again and again and again...

"Citizen Science, that's what I am. Power to the people! Standard man." and also him arguing with Kemal over the cooking, saying "I can do what I want... d'ya think I'm bothered?" before finishing with a fairly quiet "never! ya get me?"

Spooky stuff, apparently
Big Brother has set the housemates a mini-task today. They have to endure 45 minutes in the diary room being "spooked", whilst wearing an 'electric' helmet, having a bucket suspended above their head (probably with something a bit nasty in it), having the room filled with "smoke", and being hooked up to a heart rate monitor.

To give a signal to Big Brother when they've had too much of it all, they've got a buzzer which can be pressed, at which point they'll be let out of the diary room and back in to the main house.

But it'd seem they had no problem completing the task, with five housemates managing to do the maximum 10 minutes each, taking them past the time which was set by Big Brother. Only Eugene couldn't take it for very long, after having a rubber bat flown in front of him whilst he sat in the chair blindfolded.

At just before 8pm Big Brother called a housemate to the diary room, and Anthony returned with a big box, which contained a laminate inside telling the housemates that they were to be given a party, and could pick their own food and drink, and also a song. [video]

Day 57: Science evicted
Posted by Simon at 09:28 PM

Science has become the latest housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house, after receiving more votes (and boo's) from the public.

The news was followed by quite a bit of silence by the other housemates, whilst Science walked around the lounge area pacing about trying to get the 30 minute wait to pass that big quicker.

But his fellow housemates started to bitch behind his back once he'd been called to the diary room for his pre-eviction chat from Big Brother, with Craig whittering on about how he knew Science would go.

Craig also made the comment "I knew it, it's so predictable. end of", which seems to be another of his being able to see in to the future, after the event has happened.

Power to the people
Science left the house to suprisingly few boo's compared with the amount that he'd had from the crowd when his name had been called out earlier in the show, and shouted "power to the people!" as he stood on the exit stairs.

During the interview Davina told him that there was only half a percent in the vote difference between him and Orlaith.

Day 55: It's a dogs life...
Posted by Simon at 02:10 PM

Housemates have failed this week's Dog Show task, and will only receive a very basic shopping budget next week...

...however the news wasn't made known to the housemates until they'd completed their Day 3 challenge, which saw all four owners and their dogs completing an obstacle course in the garden.

The dogs had to weave between some poles, pick a bone out of a dog bowl, go over a sea-saw, crawl through a tunnel of dog litter, stand on a stage, and then crawl through an arch with water jets squirting them before placing their bone in a container.

It all seemed to prove a little too much for Makosi though, who was being guided pretty badly by Derek (who seemed to think counting upwards helped "one more step, two more, three more"... yeh, great one Derek!) and wasn't being very sympathetic to Makosi, especially after she started to burst out crying when she had to climb in the dog bowl and find the bone.

The sobbing continued for the rest of her way around the obstacle course, and even after she'd finished the blubbering kept on coming, almost as if she felt she'd crawled through real dog mess or something... [video]

Needless to say that the news of them failing the task just a couple of minutes later wasn't the news housemates were really looking for.

Day 54: The Dog and Duck
Posted by Simon at 02:31 PM

This week housemates have been set a dog and owner task, where four of them are dressed up in big fluffy dog costumes, and have to complete various events during the week, from simply walking the dog each morning, to dog shows at set times of the day.

And this afternoon has seen the dogs pair up in teams of two - Anthony and Makosi in one group, and Science and Eugene in another - and move four ducks from one pen to another in the garden, via two gates.

Day 54

The ducks waddled and quacked their way around the garden, whilst Makosi shrieked and clapped like a loon (despite the rules saying they had to be quiet) as they managed to make it through a gate, and had the constant barking out of orders (or advice as he probably thought it was) from Derek who was sitting on the decking by the pool.

All four ducks were then taken back from pen 2 to pen 1 by Science and Eugene in a similar style to the first pair, although Science seemed to think holding his hands out almost to push them along would be a better way of doing it than simply standing behind and to the side of them like Anthony and Makosi had done. [Video - the dog and duck task]

Eventually all four ducks were back in to the original pen, although it seemed more by luck than skill, with Eugene not seeming very certain of what he was doing - probably not helped by the fact a different comment was being made by Derek every few seconds... "you're too close to them" "hold your hand out" "get to the right of them" "don't stand over them" "stand over there Eugene"...

Day 50: Vanessa is out!
Posted by Simon at 09:30 PM

Davina has revealled the first part of the eviction twist tonight, by speaking to the house and saying the names Derek, Eugene, Makosi, Orlaith, Science and Vanessa, before going on to reveal that the lines were not yet closed and the votes had not been counted.

She then told those six that they all faced eviction tonight, and that the other three were totally safe. Kemal went a bit crazy at the news and had already been fanning himself but started to do it even faster as the heat in the lounge must have felt like it'd turned up several notches.

Craig and Anthony both sat there pretty stunned by the news, and clearly relieved. Derek appeared pleased with the twist as he's often said how it should be up to the public who goes rather than nominations, and was his reason for not nominating this week.

However both Makosi and Vanessa looked ever so slightly gutted by the twist, quite possibly because of the way that they had both received the most boo's when their names were said, being followed not far behind by Orlaith who also got a barrage of booing from the hyped up crowd which are standing outside the front door of the Big Brother house just waiting to see what happens next in tonight's twisted eviction. [video]

All housemates decide who goes
The second live eviction show came with the news for housemates as to which of them would be going tonight, and it was between Makosi and Vanessa - as had been predicted based on the boo's which had been received earlier in the evening.

However they wern't expecting what happened next. Each housemate (apart from Makosi and Vanessa) in turn had to stand up, and within 10 seconds had to say the name of the housemate who they wanted to evict.

Anthony chose Vanessa, Craig chose Vanessa, Derek chose Vanessa, Eugene chose Vanessa, Eugene chose Vanessa, Kemal chose Makosi, Orlaith chose Vanessa, and finally Science sort of waffled on and chose Vanessa before having to confirm his choice to Big Brother.

Moments later the front door was open and Vanessa walked up the stairs, although was followed by Makosi in a fit of crazyness which seemed to make it look as if Makosi was going to leave with her, almost as if she was walking out of the house, although was soon told by her fellow housemates to go back down the stairs so as they could close the door and let Vanessa leave...

...and once she had left, she stood there looking in to the crowd gormless (look it up in the dictionary, kids!) and shrieking away with the highest pitched screams you've ever heard. Wottevva innit?

Day 50: There's a mole in the house...
Posted by Simon at 08:51 PM

Tonight is the night where one of six housemates will face the boot, despite the fact that three other housemates have been announced as being up for the public vote.

But things haven't been an easy ride since Day 47 when Anthony, Craig and Kemal were announced as the nominated trio - on Day 48 they all failed the Olympic games task, mainly down to the fact that Anthony and Craig totally messed up the track cycling part.

And there's also been some paranoia floating around the house with a few housemates expecting there to be some sort of twist this week with the eviction, and at one point they got very near to the mark before going off on a wild tangent and deciding that a double eviction was highly likely to be happening.

Message in the mirror...
So paranoia really struck the house this morning when the housemates woke and went for their shower outside in the garden, and found a message had been written on one of the garden mirrors - "there is a mole in the house".

Who the mole might be, and even if there is one, isn't known, although Makosi's highly likely to be the favourite to take the name of mole even if she's not, after acting weird ever since the first week when she did have the secret personal task where she was going on instructions from Big Brother, and has had several other weird things happen during her time in the house.

And to add more speculation to the whole thing, she wiped the message off the mirrors in quite a huff at just after 11am, almost as if she was highly miffed that Big Brother had revealed the mole secret that she may have been trying to keep... or possibly she was just acting it like the over-dramatic loon that she seems to be.

Lies!
She did however try and convince the housemates that it was one of Big Brother's two lies which had been promised for this week, but of course they were that nominations were optional, and that Anthony, Craig and Kemal are up for the vote, when actually neither was true.

And it'll be interesting to see what happens when those "lie's" are announced tonight, and Big Brother reveals the twist in nominations - Makosi may well find she's the one that gets chosen to face the boot when they start to feel that she actually may well be the Mole...

Day 47: Anthony, Craig and Kemal get nom's, but don't go...?
Posted by Simon at 05:56 PM

Housemates nominated for eviction this week are Anthony, Craig, Kemal - but read on to find the truth...

Craig immediately said "I knew it... I knew they'd do that" - although of course, quite what he was claiming he knew they do isn't clear, as it'd seem he was saying the people that nominated are the people that are up for eviction, but no Craig, it wasn't just you three that went in to nominate - does he really honestly believe Makosi didn't nominate? or Derek?

Anthony came out with his annoyingly over-used "schoolboy error", clearly believing that what Craig was saying about those who nominated being the ones that are up for eviction this week.

Meanwhile the three girls sat on one of the sofas hugging each other in one big bundle of arms, and no doubt with Makosi and Vanessa both shedding some play-acted tears.

BUT...
But, that's not quite the eviction news... oh no. Remember that Big Brother said they'd be lied to twice this week, well this was the (highly predictable) lie, as those three aren't up for eviction.

BBLB viewers were given details by Dermot just after they'd been given the results of the nominations, that actually the other housemates were going to be up for the phone vote, with the two housemates receiving the most votes then facing the decision of the trio who currently believe they face eviction, live on Friday night's eviction show.

Complicated? It is a little, but what it now means is that there are six housemates who the public can phone up and vote for - Derek, Eugene, Makosi, Orlaith, Science, Vanessa. The two who get the most votes are then revealed on Friday night when Anthony, Craig and Kemal have to decide who goes and it'd seem fairly likely that the 2-vs-1 combination of Anthony and Craig vs Kemal could well swing it in favour of those two - they're hardly going to vote out one of their best mates are they?

So is Big Brother rigging the evictions? It's long been considered that Kemal is one of the (if not THE) favourite to win this series, and now he's up against Anthony (who it'd seem Big Brother wants to keep in) and Craig (who has already avoided a couple of early evictions and is on the point to breaking), it's highly possible that Big Brother doesn't really want to see any of those three going this week and are possibly hoping that someone like Vanessa or Eugene will be disliked by the public enough to get the most phone votes.

Who goes? Who decides? This week Anthony, Craig and Kemal do.

Day 46: Digging for treasure
Posted by Simon at 08:07 PM

Big Brother has told housemates that they'll be lied to twice this week, which has put a lot of doubt in to their minds, not helped by the fact that they were told nominations were voluntary this week but had to be done between 6 and 9am.

So this afternoon they've been given a map telling them to look for long lost hidden treasure, and have been given a mirror on a pole, a torch, two spades and various other treasure seeking equipment.

Things started off pretty slowly and without a lot of organisation - much as you'd expect from a bunch of Big Brother housemates - but thinks took a turn for the better when Big Brother started to say that housemates were "cold" "hot" "hot but not boiling" and finally "boiling" at which point they'd started to dig up patches of the grass in a manic attempt to try and find something... anything... [video]

And the first thing they did find was a washer, but that was soon disgarded as not being the treasure after Eugene found a paving slab exactly where they were digging.

They've also found bits of wood which appear to have been placed there to make it obvious that there is something worth digging for (instead of just builders rubble) and Science has been soaking the ground to make it easier for Anthony to dig deeper. Not to mention wider. The garden looks a bit of a mess, and they're well over the 20 minute time limit that Big Brother had set them.

Found it....!
At just after 8pm they'd finally dug deep enough to be able to lift a slab which was hiding a black and gold treasure chest, which seems to contain chocolate coins, although there's still confusion over if that's the whole task and if they're going to be rewarded with more for having found the treasure - with housemates saying that they "want some wine" - seeing as they're never happy with what they've been given.

A few minutes later the store room had been opened to allow housmates to access their reward - ice lollies and a jug full of chopped fruit in juice.

More updates from Day 46 as they happen...

Day 43: Maxwell evicted from the house!
Posted by Simon at 09:06 PM

Davina is due to announce who the next housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house tonight is going to be, with both Maxwell and Science having received votes all week from the public to kick them out.

However it's not been quite as simple as that in the house, because Makosi's been playing games with the housemates minds yet again, and has been quizzing the pair about if they've had to nominate someone else to leave, which of course they haven't, but she's got it in their mind that she has.

She then tried to convince Anthony that it'd be him that was leaving tonight rather than Maxwell or Science, and even declared that she herself would be the one leaving and packed her bags. Is there nothing that can stop Makosi seeking attention and constantly being "me me me!"?

Maxwell evicted from the Big Brother house!
Maxwell has become the sixth housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house, in what has possibly been the hardest-to-call result yet, not helped by the fact that both he and Science got exactly the same amount and type of boo's from the crowds outside the house.

Day 43, Maxwell is evicted

On hearing the news there was a stunned silence, although Science did let out a small "ooh". Craig sat there in shock with a hand across his open-topped shirt, whilst Anthony sat covering his head and shaking it as if to say "no".

Science meanwhile was opposite the trio with one finger on his lips and another held to the side of his head, clearly taking in the news that he was there for another week and that he'd beaten Maxwell - something which deep down it'd seemed he didn't feel was likely to happen.

Day 43, Maxwell is evicted

Maxwell made it from the lounge to gold door fairly quickly, by only really saying bye to Anthony and Craig, and stood at the exit door tugging at the handle shouting to "open the fucking door then!" before finally realising that the countdown had to complete before he could open it.

Having finally managed to get through the door he ran up the steps and faced back towards the house with his arms stretched out and his back to the crowd - just of course they can't see him there (other than on the screen) as the crowd is just around the corner... never mind eh Maxwell.

He repeated his pose on the steps outside the house, before finally walking down to meet Davina and the crowds which sounded as though they wanted his blood. Off the hook he most certainly wasn't.

Further updates from eviction night as they happen...

Day 40: Task failed, nominations announced
Posted by Simon at 05:26 PM

Housemates have failed this weeks Holiday Camp task, getting three fails on each of the three days, meaning they only get a basic shopping budget next week.

Most of the fails were caused by the three girls that were the Holiday Reps, and their inability to dress in their supplied uniform. The only other fail was Maxwell on the first day of the task where he helped prepare food, which they were forbidden to do during the task.

Housemates nominated for eviction, are...
The housemates who will be facing the public vote this week are Maxwell and Science.

"that is it, get it on!" was the reaction from housemates, with Maxwell holding his hand to the side of his head and looking neither happy nor upset - maybe he feels his chances against Science are fairly good, or maybe he's happy that he could be seeing Saskia before long.

"may the best man win, Science..." commented Maxwell moments later, which caused the nervous silence to be broken by the other housemates who burst out laughing. Science, who was unusually quiet, said that he was about to say the same thing.

This week was the first time that the new housemates Eugene and Orlaith were able to nominate, in what was a ridiculously stretched out nomination process which took absoloutely hours and saw housemates falling asleep in the lounge area whilst they waited and waited for the nominations to be completed.

It's also interesting to see that neither of the new housemates have received enough votes from their fellow pals to vote them out - a break from tradition which usually sees new housemates leaving at the first vote due to the tired old excuse of "I don't think they deserve to win because they're new" and similar comments which usually pass as nomination reasons.

How they voted
Anthony: Derek and Science
Craig: Kemal and Science
Derek: Anthony and Maxwell
Eugene: Anthony and Maxwell
Kemal: Anthony and Maxwell
Makosi: Maxwell and Orlaith
Maxwell: Kemal and Science
Orlaith: Eugene and Maxwell
Science: Craig and Maxwell
Vanessa: Eugene and Science

Day 36: Saskia is evicted
Posted by Simon at 10:24 PM

Saskia has become the latest housemate to have been evicted from the Big Brother house, after receiving more votes from the public than Maxwell who she was also up against.

The eviction was later than usual due to an extended highlights show which ran during the earlier eviction show, and saw Saskia given only 30 seconds to say her goodbyes and give Maxwell one final kiss goodbye before walking through the house to the gold exit door.

On leaving the house she met with a massive crowd of booing Big Brother fans, much in the style of other housemates who have previously left the house during the past few weeks, and whilst there were some cheers for her, there were certainly more vocal people who wern't there to give her applause.
