By this time last year (end of Day 5)

With five days worth of Big Brother 6 passed so far, and it not seeming particularly 'great', The Eye has taken a look at where things were exactly a year ago in BB5.
By the end of Day 5 last year we'd had:
* 12 Housemates enter the house, and Kitten causing trouble before she'd even got through the doors
* Kitten trying to get housemates to revolt against Big Brother at the start of Day 2
* A live task in the evening of Day 2 where they had to nominate, Kitten refused to and so nominated herself
* Kitten not getting her suitcase of clothes due to the above nominations
* A boring Sunday (day 3) where they did very little but Dan hosted a Cabaret Show
* A boring Bank Holiday Monday (day 4), where housemates "held hostage" their suitcases in an effort to get Big Brother to hand over Kitten's clothing
* Kitten climbed on the roof twice
* Shell went half-naked to do the cooking, wearing just an apron
* Michelle, Nadia, Emma, Kitten, Stuart, Victor, and Marco took to the Hut for a game of truth or dare and talked some fairly revealing subjects
* Victor and Marco snacking on food from the kitchen whilst bitching about how the shopping list was so badly worked out during the first week
* Housemates tried to break in to the locked beer fridge
* Kitten tried to drag the fridge with her to the bedroom
* Michelle and Stuart sneaked off to bed with each other whilst the rest of the housemates were out in the garden, with the first of their "romance" being caught on the E4 live feed
So was last year better? Reading back over The Eye from last May and June it'd seem that it too got off to a rocky start, with annoying housemates and some bitching - although nowhere near the amount that there's been in this series.
There was a lot more going on in BB5, which continued near enough throughout the 71 days (with just a lull after the "fight night" on Day 21 where housemates were given a bit of time to sort things out before it got back in to full swing), and this helped the previous series be entertaining rather than boring.
Ultimately the people in Big Brother 5 also seemed much nicer. It didn't have a weird lieing Makosi (maybe it's her task, maybe she's just fake and weird?), and didn't have a camp annoying prancy Kemal (although there was Marco...), but The Eye just isn't taking to this series as well as last year.
Hopefully things will improve when they get their first "live task" this weekend, and when someone gets evicted on Friday (please let it be Makosi AND Kemal, AND maybe Science and Craig and Lesley and the too-often-annoying Maxmole), and hopefully their weekly challenge will be one which gets them WORKING TOGETHER like the Big Bro Food To Go did from Day 10 of the previous series, and provided entertainment for both viewers and housemates 24 hours a day for a couple of days.
It is still early days...
