Day 5: Why oh why is Big Brother becoming boring?
Posted by Simon at May 31, 2005 02:40 AM

Mary's party turned flat quite quickly, and the endless predictable discussions caused splits in the house, with Craig, Vanessa and later Lesley heading off to the Loft for a good old gossip and bitch about their fellow housemates.

Craig said he was bored of the constant sex discussions - of which the same old names seem to keep coming out with exagerrated claims. Craig also keeps whispering as if he doesn't want either the public or Big Brother to hear what he's saying, but it's been pretty clear that he's trying to influence Lesley and Vanessa's nominations.

Interestingly Makosi left the lounge around 30 minutes later after having a conversation with Kemal and the other housemates where Kemal kept having the last say and trying to make his view the one that mattered - always going that one step further.

When she joined Craig, Vanessa and Lesley in the Loft she told them "I know Big Brother is listening, but... those others aren't going to win"... a hint towards who to nominate? A matter of minutes later Kemal joined in with the conversation in the loft, and then both Kemal and Makosi left the loft.

It's another one of those weird nights in the Big Brother house where very little makes sense - not helped by the fact that the sound keeps dipping when ever anything worth hearing is said...!

Makosi rumbled on her personal task?
A few housemates appear to have realised that Makosi might have been set orders "from the big man", and feel that she was told to be like she is on the first night - they would of course be right.

She obviously denied it, but wasn't one of the rules of her personal task that housemates wern't to realise what was happening? Surely she's failed and will therefore be up for nomination this week...?

They questioned her constant story-changing and lieing, including the fact that she said she was a virgin, then earlier tonight said she wasn't, and a bit later saying that she was but that she said she wasn't to see the reaction. Her fellow housemates don't however quite believe her, and are asking if even her name is Makosi or not.

Lesley then came out with a corker of a comment that she'd already made in the loft to Craig and Vanessa just some 30 minutes or so earlier - that she's "got the tightest pussy in this house", and did a very bitchy-looking finger pointing as she made the claim to Makosi with a smug face and a grin that looked the sort of thing you'd see on Jerry Springer...

...just to be told by Makosi that she is indeed a virgin, and Lesley replied with a gobsmacked "yer not...!????" as she realised maybe the comment had backfired spectacularly. Next thing the E4 feed showed Lesley had gone to join her other housemates in the pool to have a bitch about her. Foot in mouth yet again!

She seems to have some real issues with the other girls in the house - firstly Lesley lashed out at Sam the other night, and she's clearly feeling threatened by Saskia, and is now trying to make herself sound better than Makosi... It's dire television and makes Lesley look a right old bitchy vaine cow.

Quite why she has this constant need to try and come across as being "better" than the other girls isn't too clear, but it'd seem shallow and naive would be high up any list of reasons. It can't be making her popular with the voting public though - a view backed up by comments from BB fans on forums.

Boring.
At just gone 4am almost all housemates are still awake (apart from Derek who went to bed early but still seems awake), and it's been some of the most boring Big Brother viewing there's ever been - quite a bit going on but it's like someone's given a really bad script out to 12 actors that are performing the world's worst most contrived storyline ever.

The Eye thinks Big Brother will need to take a turn for the better over the next few days before it turns in to a disaster, because the small-talk and bitchyness isn't proving entertaining, and nothing that Makosi says can be believed whilst she's on this personal task... but then, can anything any housemate says be believed? They're all coming across as a bunch of fakers.

(I didn't think I'd say it after last year, but I'm actually getting tired of this series. The sooner some of the dead-weight housemates get voted out, the better. There's clear potential to this year being the best series ever, but there's some aspects that are seriously dragging it down)
