Day 4: Rats!?!
Posted by Simon at May 30, 2005 02:10 AM

It's Mary's 31st birthday today, and the housemates expect there to be a party thrown later in the day - to pre-empt things they started on some of the booze at around midnight to get the day off to a start which they hope will set the tone for the rest of the 24 hours.

Although the discovery of rats might not have been part of their anticipated day...

So much for 'lights out'
Infact it was quite a late night again for the housemates, as they were all still awake at midnight with the bedroom light still on - totally against what had been suggested in the meeting yesterday.

By 2am almost all housemates were awake, although Derek had seemingly gone to bed. Maxwell, Roberto, Anthony and Sam were in the pool. Mary, Science, Vanessa, Makosi, Lesley and Saskia decided the pool wasn't for them and instead sat in the loft discussing UFO's, ghosts and general points about their Big Brother experience such as rumours they'd read about a "sun and owl house" and various other themes that had been speculated upon.

Not long later most of the housemates decided to call it a night and get some sleep - something which has been lacking during their time in the house so far - although Max, Roberto, Craig, Anthony and Vanessa stopped up and instead chatted about random subjects in the living room.

Rat!!!
At just before 4am Anthony spotted what he thought was a rat in the garden. He along with Max, Roberto, Craig and Vanessa walked to near where the binbag had been left out to investigate, and thought he'd probably seen a gnome instead of anything else.

However a few minutes after they'd been poking around near the bin bag the E4 feed indeed picked up on a rat scurrying off with something from the bin bag. Anthony's described it as being the size of a cat, and Max said "it was fucking huge" although the rat seen by the camera didn't seem that big. Maybe there's a few of them. Not nice.

Craig's comment was "that one had a set of tee'f on it!" as he and Vanessa went in to the Diary Room to alert Big Brother to the problem. A couple of minutes later the housemates decided it was time they made their way to bed... although Vanessa was slightly concerned that the rat was going in to a hole under the bedroom.

The long sleep
Not a single housemate had risen from their slumber at 9am this morning, and it was around 9:30 that Derek sat up and looked around before saying "morning hansome" and getting a witty reply from Anthony who was also clearly awake but not wanting to get up.

This will be the longest that the housemates have slept since entering the house, with the first few nights being no more than a couple of hours sleep for the vast majority of them, and some claiming to have had less than an hour during the first two nights.

However the bout of deep-sleep was soon broken when at around 9:50am the lights burst on and Big Brother played the sound of what appears to be a vacum cleaner - surely one of the most annoying noises ever when you're sleepy and don't want to get up. Makosi however seems to be keeping under the duvet again as she has done previously...

day 4

And it's kicked started another argument because Makosi has forgotten to clean the aprons from yesterday's task, which Big Brother had requested her to do with the reward being 12 bottles of wine to celebrate Mary's birthday - obviously Big Brother is going to give them the wine though as it's all part of the "unlucky" theme and how Makosi will be praised for winning the prize.

Whilst Makosi is away speaking with Big Brother a good number of housemates are bitching about her in the bedroom, some think that she's done it on purpose and is being selfish and didn't win the wine simply because she wanted to be nasty to them. Science keeps going on about how there's "two sidez to da argument innit?".

Interestingly Makosi went in to the diary room to speak to Big Brother about the fact she'd not washed the aprons by 9am this morning, and Kemal went in with her and has since been asked to leave by Big Brother but has revealed the news that she'll be given another chance to win the bottles of wine - making it very clear that Big Brother wants to make sure Makosi's personal challenge is made tougher by getting people to be happy with her winning them booze for tonight's party.

Makosi chosen Cherry Tango???
It'd sound as though Big Brother gave Makosi a choice of 12 bottles of wine, or 12 bottles of Cherry Tango... and it'd appear that she's chosen Cherryade because it wasn't on the shopping list and she claims to love drinking it.

Could it be that Makosi is doing this to wind up the housemates ahead of the nominations today and before the drink arrives tonight... One thing though, she daren't face the other housemates such as Maxwell, Roberto, Saskia and Sam, but is chatting with both Kemal and Derek in the garden.

Kemal keeps saying "this is going to kick off", and sure enough it looks fairly likely that another argument will go guns-a-blazing once the news finds it's way to the other housemates that were bitching about the fact that they feel she failed to wash the aprons on purpose so as they didn't get booze tonight.

But instead it'd seem it's caused them all to burst in to hilarity, and Mary who was the last to rise from her bed at gone 11am seems a bit confused by it all, and says that she's going to go in to the diary room due to the "issue" which has arisen... it's not too sure if she's upset about the fact there'll be no booze for her birthday or if something else has got her angered. The house seems a very confusing place at the moment, with Derek constantly laughing at things and Max even being very cheery commenting how he's had "quieter starts to a Monday morning".

Just chillin'
The weather in the Elstree-based garden has been mixed today, with rain noted by some of the housemates earlier when Mary was showering. Things seem to have improved by 1pm though and all of the housemates (bar Mary who is re-arranging her clothes in the bedroom) ventured outside to get some rays from the midday sun.

day 4 -- ...Vying for shelf space against Saskia...

However Lesley appeared as if she was all a bit rejected and alone - a distinct air of negativity seemed to hang over her, as it has done since for much of her time in the house, and she stood there arms crossed in a bitterly cold pose whilst everyone else was sitting and laying down by the pool.

Second task wins them a party
Big Brother threw out another task to the housemates this afternoon, getting them to create a rap about another housemate, and then perform it - exactly the same as journalists had to do during their trial of the BB6 house the week before the new series started.

And it proved to be another easy task to pass meaning they won the party which was being offered by Big Brother, giving housemates a real chance to celebrate Mary's 31st Birthday later tonight.

However things might not go 100% well tonight when Maxwell finds that he's had his bed soaked in water by a vicious Lesley who drenched it earlier this evening as a way of getting her own back on Max after he made her cry during the rapping task by as Channel 4's website put it: 'complimenting Sam's beauty and calling Lesley's chest "frightening"'. B-i-t-c-h-y!

Day 4 continues with Mary's wicked witch party...
